Sometime prior to 1700, Mary Mann Hampton died and Captain John Hampton married again and removed to a plantation he owned in King William County where he died. His will was dated Nov. 1718 as shown in the old Hampton deed, but that record of the will has been distroyed with all the other records of this County by a fire so we have not been able to learn of the name of his second wife nor of her children, if any.

He married Margaret Wade on 01 Jan 1712. According to a 1712 land record his father gave him the Hempfield land. later he moved to Essex County, Virginia and lived there until 1736.
